Get Expert College Essay Guidance, Tailored to Your Student
College applications often involve more than the main personal statement. Students may also face shorter, school-specific essays and separate application systems, each with its own prompts and deadlines.
I help students organize the work, decide what to tackle first, and strengthen each essay along the way. Whether your student needs guidance from the beginning or focused feedback on a draft, our sessions meet them where they are.
Let’s discuss your student’s needs and see whether working together would be a good fit.
Support That Fits Your Student
We can work through the entire essay process, focus on a particular application, or concentrate on one draft. Together, we decide what deserves attention first.
01
Full Essay Support
Guidance from brainstorming and topic selection through drafting, revision, and final review of the essays your student needs to complete.
02
The Common App Personal Statement
Help with the main personal essay many students submit to multiple colleges through the Common Application. We focus on finding a meaningful topic, developing a clear direction, and revealing something distinctive about the student.
03
Supplemental Essays and Other Applications
Many colleges ask additional, school-specific essay questions. Some also have their own applications outside the Common App. For example, the University of California system asks applicants to answer short prompts called Personal Insight Questions. I help students approach each requirement thoughtfully and make sure different responses reveal different sides of who they are.
04
Finished Draft Review
Focused, actionable feedback on what works, what needs attention, and which revisions will make the greatest difference before submission.
HOW WE WORK TOGETHER
How Sessions Work

Sessions take place online, one-on-one with me. Depending on where your student is in the process, we might brainstorm ideas, evaluate possible topics, work through an outline, or strengthen a draft.

Every session has a clear focus. Students leave knowing what to work on next, with feedback and priorities shaped by their writing and deadlines.
A CLEAR, THOUGHTFUL PROCESS
The Essay Process
01
Find the Story and Direction
We begin by exploring what a student wants admissions readers to understand beyond grades, activities, and accomplishments. Through conversation and targeted questions, we consider possible topics, recognize meaningful experiences, and choose a direction that gives the essay purpose and focus.
02
Develop the Essays
We turn those ideas into focused, thoughtful writing. I help students build structure, use specific details, and explore not just what happened but why it mattered and what it reveals about them.
When we work on multiple essays, we also consider how they fit together. Each should contribute something new, giving admissions readers a fuller picture rather than repeating the same information.
03
Revise and Polish
Strong essays develop through revision. I help students see what is working, where a reader needs more, and which changes will have the greatest effect.
We strengthen clarity, reflection, organization, and flow, then check language, grammar, repetition, and word count. Feedback is specific and understandable; the student keeps their own voice and makes the final decisions.
